hehehe, had a lil free time when i got back from home. decided to focus on getting a shirt design out of my own... so i took my Sexy Cow from my animation! may not be the best, but over all, its practice. really need to see if i can focus on making designs for shirts and see if i can sell them.

ever recall days of your childhood were you caught a fly, but didnt kill it... so you pulled all it's legs off? we all did. apparently someone turned to hilarity. just adding own legs to it can add a bit of a character to the flies. should do some of my own some time... maybe with those daddy long-legs too.

wooo! another event that i attended, selling shirts and introducing my self to others. displayed 2 of my designs that i had done. the whole event was to raise money for breast cancer and a woman there actually had it. im still cloudy on the whole thing really other than people were selling items to raise money.

woot. my friend Jae and his crew posted a video on their blog on the Rip the Runway Fashion show that my shirts where being displayed/shown off at that i also attended at. it happened on Oct 1st and i must say, it was a great experience to be present in. my emotions through the whole thing was just numb cause i didnt know how to react, didnt know what to say or do etc etc etc. but still was fun. :) the link below is to STinc's blog with the video.

Update and Practice

well, i might of scored a sweet animation gig from Philadelphia with a small group of 3 to do a kid's educational show. really hope that it would turns out great since my job turned into part time now, so its not going to pay for my monthly bills. also got an interview to do with Small Talk Inc. just talking about who am i, what i do etc etc that will get post on their site and will get a copy for my own for my own use. so need to think about what i want to get across before hand. really like working with those guys, really fun to hang around with.

other then that, i done a pic for my friend Cristobal Hoffmann, the guy who did the backgrounds on my animation, i like how it came out over all but damn does Kimahri (FF 10) have so many details. not only that, i drew his costume TWICE! bleh... also i been practicing some with Andrew "Android" Jones's style. some came up unfinished, some i have no idea where to go after, some turned just lost. i dont know... but its practice!

wow!... what an experience and exposure! to recap, i done some shirt designs for a small company here called "Small Talk Inc" and i'm pretty happy how they all turned out except for my "Drugs are my Escape" design cause it gotten shrunken but he said when he sells them that he will correct it to the actual size. but ya, totally a great exposure, fricken loud musice/bass and over all just awesome people. below is the link to the blog @ Small Talk.

woooo~ my first freelance job. i score a sweet job with Small Talk Inc. here in the Twin Cities designing shirts. pretty pleased with how they turned out. the only down fall is that my work will be unpaid BUT the other goodies make up for it. i get to attend the fashion show that they will be hosting on October 1st, get to do a 4 min interview and will be able to get a copy of that interview to post up on my sites and such. i will also be getting copies of the shirts that i designed and if they sell enough shirts they will negotiate with me of what percentage i want or if i want to sell the copy rights over to them. so far that part is undecided on my half. over all, i get my name out in the Twin Cities and build up my portfolio. yay!

Friday afternoon, i went to check out what was new at ConceptArt.org and to my surprise, Andrew Jones was having a live stream lecture about Beauty on saturday from 1-5pm. well i couldnt miss this. so i paid the $95 fee and when the time came i popped on as well as 23 others from around the world to hear what Andrew had to say and show. He talked about beauty is can be the essence and focus in a piece of art. and after an hour of talk, throwing questions around and watching his slide show, the audience get to see Andrew's creative proses. and i must say, just from him using only premade shapes and Corel Painter, he sure developed a whole new style in the digital art world. i really admire this guy and find my self inspired by him. really glad i got to see his lecture.

this was a stop motion animation that i done at MCAD for my Independent Study. really love how it came out, may do more with them but with foam latex. the clay versions here got all busted up and kept cracking and such. so i'll have to remake them.

been playing around with an idea/style that Andrew Jones once lectured on. i bought his Massive Black downloadable video and picked up some interesting things from it. so i done some ideas/sketches based off of this. how it works is basically you use -just- the 2d aspect of zbrush, exporting it into painter, adding on some more shapes and so on and then into photoshop were you copy the layer and then flip it. the idea of doing this is that it is suppose to train your mind and your eyes in to picking out what you see. some people see characters, architecture, robots, monsters, vehicles, or armor/clothes. lets see what you see from these.

(note) some are just simple 180 flips cause you can literally have about 50 different versions of 2 of the same shapes cause once you move it, it doesnt look the same any more and you may be able to see something different than before.

I'll Miss You...

I know it has been a while since my last post, haven't really been all that productive. Last week on~ Tuesday I believe, I revived an email from my mom stating that she had put my dog Lacey down. Yeah it sucks and all that and I'll miss her but at the same time i understand why she did it. A) She was getting weak from laying around so much and not being productive her self. B) From that, she was having health issues. C) Walks with her kept getting shorter and shorter. D) I been away from home for soo~ long with school and now work and living in Minneapolis that I got detached from her so the news of my mom putter her down didn't have much of an impact on me. She was a sweety and enjoyed spending time with her and giving her attention and she all ways loved to cuddle. So yeah, I'll miss her.

well, finally finished my animation. again, this was a collaboration with Cristobal Jofre Hoffmann. i done all the animating and he done all the background work. this animation WAS originally of a bigger animation but~ due to the amount of time i had, i was lucky enough to get this minute and some seconds done with this one semester. there are some shots in it that i am still iffy on and there are some shots that i like that i can use for my demo reel. it was a two person team effort and really enjoyed Cristobal working on this project with me. got his digital painting skills up and improved with the backgrounds he done. but yeah, hope you all like it.

A Few Good Things...

WEEEE! i love getting packages in the mail! i know ive ordered them but it's like a surprise! its like having a friend that knows exactly what u want... that kind of feeling, but ya... i got my in the mail today! YAY! they're not the best in that there are some errors of centering, text size etc etc but thats due on my side of it. never really made business cards before. over all i think it came out nicely. the other package that i got today was a Spawn: Pocher figure that i had bought with my refund check from taxes. waiting on two more toys that i bought as well that were uber awesome.

other then that, a friend of mine and my self ~may~ have found a place. its not THE best/greatest, but it is reasonable in that its a lil grungy. over all its fairly reasonable and pretty close to skool since my friend is only a sophomore this year. im sure with 2 artists living together that we can spice the place up some to make it more appealing.

Future Planing

i tend to suck at it. im in the middle of looking for a place to live some where near by campus. i have a job on campus over the summer so that's covered, just need a place to live now. looking for a studio or a cheap one bed room apartment. it's not easy.. kinda annoying but it has to be done. if worse comes to worse, i'll end up moving back home which really isn't too bad cause i could do freelance work/internship from home and work on my own stuff to improve on. the only thing i would be missing is all the cool stuff here in Minneapolis and job opportunities. there's lots of art stuff i would like to do for my self but i really need a break after school is over. so we'll see what will happen... would like to stay here.

other then that, i designed some business card for me. really like how it turned out. designed my banner after i made the business card.

Loring Park Screening!

Last month, Professional Practice announced that they are accepting MCAD student films to show at the Loring Park in Minneapolis here with coffee by Dunn Bros. my three films that i submitted all made it in. my Giraffes, Clowns and best of yet my SEXY COW will be shown there. i sooooo cant wait for it cause my Sexy Cow gets the most mixed emotions. some love it, some hate it in a good way, some dont know how to react to it.

Since i been talking about my final animation project here at school, i have never really posted up a little trailer or a teaser. sooo here is a little snipet of the animation. this is actually one of the shots that i DID like. i animated, inked and colored Franko, background was done by Christobal.

i recently watched Spawn on DVD from 1997. i remembered when i was a kid, how awesome that movie was and i was actually a lil scared. but now i'm 12 years later since it had been released... i think it's time for an updated version of Spawn. we got better writers, better equipment, animation, etc etc, i think its time to have an updated one that will be so much better. so yeah....

Or maybe even leaving you saying "Awww i wish that was me~!"? well that happened to me today. Two weeks ago i had place an order for a video of Andrew Jones and recently got it today. It's basically of him showing you how he works and such and it is just awesome and inspiring. would like to apply that to my own stuff but of course i cant with school and all. But with spring break coming i may be able to squeeze it in some where... yea. such awesome and pretty stuff /cry

WOOooooooooo! i really love how these 2 came out. the cow is from my 'Sexy Cow Dance' animation and the 2nd is Cristobal "Negger"'s Franko. got his permission to do this. would really like to try and get these made as Vinyl toy collectibles. gonna try to post these up at PatchTogether.com and see if i can get them made :D but ya.... this was for my Illustration and Products class.

well im still trucking a long on the animation. for those that dont know, im collaborating on this animation project with my friend Cristobal Jofre from Chile. he's basically doing all the background art and im doing all the animation. so far it has been going great. sunday night/monday morning i pulled an all nighter working on some frames as well as tuesday night/ wensday morning. and now i have no more HyDrive energy drinks.... need to buy more. but ya, here are some of the backgrounds that Cristobal did that will be seen in the animation.
